"And turtles, of course ... all the turtles are free, as turtles, and maybe, all creatures should be."

After staying the night in Dodge City, Kansas, Ann and E had to pose with the Wyatt Earp statue.

We went to the civic center in Berkeley to see the Loggerhead Turtles that are supposed to go in the fountain outside, when the fountain gets fixed (as I read on their website). However, turtles were created in 2008 and it’s now 2012, so I don’t know if they’ll ever fix the fountain… which is probably okay, since there were quite a few unsavory looking people in the park back there.

Stricken Ann went to the Dinosaur Gardens in Ossineke, Michigan, where she posed with many dinosaurs even though some of them tried to eat her. She likes to think that she’s a dinosaur wrangler (kinda like an alligator wrangler).

We visited the Sam Houston statue in Huntsville, Texas. At 67 feet tall, it is the world’s tallest statue of an American hero. It’s also the most photographed statue in Texas–probably because it’s right on I-45.

Creepily, there is an extra Sam Houston head on the ground on between the visitor center and the statue. Because he’s so gigantic, it would be too hard to get a picture of us in front of him, so we had our picture taken by just the head.

On the beltway in Houston, there is a restaurant that has a mini version of the Sam Houston statue. Stricken Ann decided to get her picture taken with it.
