2014 Christmas Ornaments

Before I unveil the 2014 ornament, I though it would be nice to see the last five years.

And now, without further ado, the 2014 Godkid Christmas Ornament:

Pen Pal Balloon Letter

DSCN0187

I have recently become pen pals with my Goddaughter in Texas. Since I can’t see her as much as I would like, I thought this would be a good way for us to keep in touch. Plus, it’s good writing and reading practice for her. Her birthday is in October, so this is the letter I sent her. I included an instruction card that includes blowing it up, reading it, and then either tying it off or letting it go to fly around the room.

2012 Wreath Christmas Ornaments

On the third day of Christmas, I made the Godkid Christmas ornaments: wreaths. (Check out the ornaments from 2011, 2010, and 2009.)

The buttons were a collection purchased as well as dyed using Rit dye.

Easter Baskets

For my Godchildren (and their siblings) for Easter, I made small tote bags and filled them with candy and felt Peeps.

Felt Peeps

I am addicted to Pinterest and I’ve been in a creative mood. However, my craft supplies are all in Michigan. Really, the only thing I have here is felt and embroidery floss. So, I’ve been using Google and Pinterest to find cool crafts to do when I get home. I found a Peep garland tutorial, but have no use for that. It did, however, give me the idea to make felt Peeps to put in the Easter baskets (which I’m also going to make) I’m going to send to my God-kids. I think they turned out super cute. They were really easy and inexpensive. I got the felt at a dollar store (in a multi-sheet pack) and I already had the floss.

2011 Owl Christmas Ornaments

It’s year #3 for the Godchildren Christmas ornaments. I was planning to make snowman with glass bulb ornaments, until I came across this owl ornament on a blog called Juicy Bits. Perhaps I’ll do the snowmen next year.
The middle owl is mine, the rest are as follows, left to right: Raven, Gage, Kayla and Lily… But now I’m second guessing myself. I know I have Gage and Kayla’s right, but I’m only 75% sure on the other two. “:)

Monkey Business

For Christmas, I made monkeys for my Godchildren using the Molly the Monkey pattern from mmmcrafts. Let me introduce Pete the Pirate, Moxie the chic Monkey, Princess Piala, and the fairy Faye. I’m really impressed with how well they turned out.

Dress Up Clothes

I went shopping for birthday presents for Lily.  I wanted to get her dress up clothes, but the dress up clothes at both Meijer and Target were cheaply made and ridiculous expensive.  So, I decided to make her something.  I went to Joann Fabrics and found a couple patterns.  One was for a super easy tutu that turned out so cute I might be a ballerina for Halloween next year.  I also picked out a dress pattern that did not require buttons, zippers or any other fasteners.  Then I picked out sparkly fabric.  I think they turned out pretty good.  And I had a blast making them.  I think I’m going to make something for Raven for Christmas….  maybe a fairy dress.
